A high-end villa on the shore at Yura in Sumoto City, Hyogo, on Awaji Island, which had its grand opening in December 2023 and takes one group per day. The site covers 989 square metres and the building 195, laid out as a two-bedroom, and every room faces the ocean.
The sauna occupies its own standalone room, fitted with the latest equipment from HARVIA, the Finnish brand. You sit facing the sea, then move out to the cold bath and the cooling stones. There is also a heated stone bath and an indoor jacuzzi.
What marks the property out is the private beach and its own jetty. A boat can moor there, so it is possible to arrive by sea and check in directly, which is rare anywhere in Japan.
Indoors there is a carefully chosen high-end fitted kitchen and a laundry room. There are two bedrooms. Osaka and Kobe are about an hour and 50 minutes away by car, Himeji about an hour and 40. Rates start at 300,000 yen per night.
