A whole-house villa on the heights above Fukura Bay in Minamiawaji, Hyogo. It is a two-storey building with a distinctive triangular form, and the name EDGE comes from that outline.
There are two types, COZY and SUITE. COZY has two queen beds and sleeps up to four. The living room has a window 4.38 m wide, and the bedroom and bathroom also look out on Fukura Bay. Watching the boats cross the bay, time loosens its grip.
All the interiors are finished in plaster, the work of Tatsuya Maeda of Kaze no E, a plasterer from Seidan on Awaji Island. As the light shifts through the day, the colour of the walls shifts with it.
The layout runs to a kitchen, a living-dining room, a laundry, a toilet, a terrace and a private garden that doubles as a dog run. Up to three dogs may stay: three under 10 kg, two under 25 kg, or one under 40 kg. A supermarket is nearby, and catering can be arranged, including an aged-fish course and creative French. Rates start at 45,000 yen including tax for two guests in COZY.
